Basketball Recap: Southern Piles Up the Points Against Mountain Ridge

Southern won the last time they faced Mountain Ridge and things went their way on Monday too. The Southern Rams simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mountain Ridge Miners 62-33. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.

Southern was led to victory by Carly Wilt and Joycelyn Ward. Wilt went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points, while Ward posted nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Ward a new career-high in blocks (two). Gabbi Berry was another key player, putting up nine points.

Southern is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

Southern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-25 win against Elkins on the 15th. As for Mountain Ridge, they have also already played their next contest, a 55-43 victory against Shalom Christian Academy on the 13th.
