Baseball Recap: Mt. Markham Comes Up Short

Mt. Markham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-3 to the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Owen Jones made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Donley, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Mt. Markham's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Frankfort-Schuyler, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mt. Markham will square off against rival Little Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Frankfort-Schuyler is set to take on their familiar foe Herkimer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
