Softball Recap: Superior Has No Trouble Against Northwestern

After only two runs in their last game, Superior made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northwestern on Monday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Tigers. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Arianna Robillard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige 'Peeps' Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Matteline Schilling was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Superior's record now sits at 15-6. As for Northwestern, they moved to 17-3 with that defeat, which also ended their 13-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Superior will venture away from home to face off against Hudson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwestern, they will face off against Ashland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Oredockers at the right time seeing as the Oredockers are stuck on a 17-game losing streak.
