Softball Recap: Mcadory Drops Season-High Score on Bessemer City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McAdory). They never let the Bessemer City Tigers get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Thursday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Payton Yarbrough made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Mahaffey, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Pearl Ryan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

McAdory hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

McAdory's record now sits at 18-9-1. As for Bessemer City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: McAdory beat the Tigers by a score of 17-0 later that day.
