St. Edward comes up short despite Anthony Reader's strong performance

Recap: St. Edward Beavers vs. Fullerton Warriors

The St. Edward Beavers struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Fullerton Warriors had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. St. Edward was outmatched by Fullerton at home and fell 56-27. St. Edward has not had much luck with Fullerton recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite the loss, St. Edward still got an impressive performance from Anthony Reader, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 55.6% of St. Edward's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Steensnes, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Fullerton found their leader in underclassman Kane Wetovick, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Wetovick is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Hunter Gochenour was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.

St. Edward has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Fullerton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Edward will square off against Twin River on Friday. As for Fullerton, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Palmer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
