Softball Recap: Hartland Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous eight meetings between Hartland and Canton, and Canton kept the tradition alive. The Eagles lost 12-6 to the Chiefs on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-4 last Wednesday.

Addy Mach and Kaitlyn Brennan stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mach went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Brennan went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Brennan's first of the season. Emme Kottong was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hartland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Canton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hartland will take on Wayne Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Canton, they will face off against Plymouth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
