Basketball Game Preview: Maury Commodores vs. South Lakes Seahawks

Having just played yesterday, the Maury Commodores will get right back to it and host the South Lakes Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

South Lakes will be up against a hot Maury team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Maury strolled past Norcom with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 55-39. Given the Commodores' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, South Lakes blew past Centreville, posting an 80-34 victory. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.

South Lakes pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.8 points. As for Maury, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
