Recap: Weston Trojans vs. Brookfield Bobcats
Even though the Weston Trojans have not done well against the Brookfield Bobcats recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Weston walked away with a 47-37 victory over Brookfield. Winning may never get old, but Weston sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Brookfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brendan Longworth. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Longworth has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shane Weber, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Weston has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Brookfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weston will challenge Immaculate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Immaculate's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. Brookfield won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (New Fairfield is ranked 45th, while Brookfield is ranked 38th).
