Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge/DeLand-Weldon Takes a Loss

Blue Ridge/DeLand-Weldon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Heritage Hawks 50-20. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-27 last Thursday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bre Patten, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Patten a new career-high in points. Maegan Frye was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Blue Ridge/DeLand-Weldon's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Heritage, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Blue Ridge/DeLand-Weldon has already played their next contest (against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Heritage didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-51 win against Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] on the 20th.
