Ten must be Collegiate's lucky number: they beat Rose Hill with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Spartans didn't even let the Rockets on the board, marking the Spartans' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Carson Malaise made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Collegiate let Carter Drumright and Max Williams run wild. Drumright went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Williams went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gavin Klausmeyer, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Collegiate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive contests.

Collegiate's win bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for Rose Hill, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Collegiate will challenge Mulvane at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rose Hill, they will head out on the road to square off against Winfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
