Baseball Game Preview: Manvel Mavericks vs. Pearland Oilers

The Manvel Mavericks will head out on the road to challenge the Pearland Oilers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manvel is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Manvel lost 10-1 to Pearland on Saturday.

For Pearland's part, Jaden Ornelas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Ornelas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Aidan Avalos and Nicholas Partida did most of the damage at the plate: Avalos scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Partida went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Avalos is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jordan Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pearland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Pearland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. As for Manvel, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
