Soccer Game Preview: Chambers vs. North Mecklenburg

The Chambers Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chambers has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chambers is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to eight goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Hopewell on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Titans. While losing is never fun, Chambers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Hopewell are ranked 110th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Mecklenburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-2 margin over West Mecklenburg on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what North Mecklenburg needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Their offense was hitting West Mecklenburg from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Fatima Sylla led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

North Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 5-13-1. As for Chambers, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Chambers beat North Mecklenburg by a goal in their previous matchup back in March, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
