Volleyball Recap: Stevens Falcons vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS

Stevens was the 3-0 winner over Sotomayor when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons fell just short of the WILDCATS by a score of 3-2 on Friday. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the WILDCATS 25-18 in the first set.

Stevens took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-15, 16-14.

Kamryan Johnson paced Stevens' offense, picking up 21 kills. Johnson got some help from Gabrielle Ramon and her 45 assists. Ramon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Sotomayor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marina Soliz out in front who had 27 digs and eight assists. Those 27 digs gave Soliz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zoey Aguayo, who had 11 digs and three aces.

Stevens dropped their record down to 23-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Sotomayor, they now have a winning record of 19-18.

Stevens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Harlan on the 14th. As for Sotomayor, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Taft on the 14th.
