Basketball Recap: Groom Tigers vs. McLean Tigers
Groom was the 49-24 winner over McLean when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Groom Tigers took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McLean Tigers on Tuesday.
Leading McLean to victory were Collin Alston and Andrew Montoya. Alston went 8 for 18 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards, while Montoya went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvon Salazar, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 boards.
Groom's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for McLean, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Groom will face off against Lefors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Groom is facing Lefors at the right time seeing as Lefors is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for McLean, they will welcome Hedley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McLean is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season.
