Basketball Game Preview: Great Plains Lutheran Panthers vs. Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones

Great Plains Lutheran is 0-9 against Clark/Willow Lake since January of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Great Plains Lutheran Panthers will be playing at home against the Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones at 6:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Great Plains Lutheran turned things around against Sioux Falls Lutheran on Friday. They walked away with a 56-46 win over Sioux Falls Lutheran.

Great Plains Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Rubendall, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Rubendall has posted since back in December of 2023. Micah Holien was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Clark/Willow Lake faced Lennox in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Clark/Willow Lake sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 victory over Lennox. The win was nothing new for the Cyclones as they're now sitting on four straight.

Clark/Willow Lake's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Great Plains Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Great Plains Lutheran came up short against Clark/Willow Lake when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 51-39. Can Great Plains Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
