Basketball Preview: Milford Bulldogs vs. Oakwood Panthers
Milford is 7-1 against the Panthers since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Milford Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Oakwood Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Oakwood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Milford, who comes in off a win.
Milford scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 101-46 win over Trinidad. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for Milford this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Milford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amir Newman, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shumon Rogers, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Oakwood, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-27 loss to the Yellowjackets on Tuesday.
Milford's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Oakwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.
Milford was able to grind out a solid victory over the Panthers when the teams last played back in January, winning 62-53. Will Milford repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
