Softball Recap: Foothill Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Foothill won against University Prep last Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Enterprise Hornets a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylee Vakulich made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Malia Webb was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Taylor Bates was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Foothill pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Enterprise, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Foothill is set to take on their familiar foe Shasta at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Enterprise will face off against rival Pleasant Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
