Basketball Recap: Gulfport Comes Up Short

Gulfport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the St. Martin Yellow Jackets, falling 63-37. While losing is never fun, the Admirals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 12th).

Gulfport's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for St. Martin, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Gulfport will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on D'Iberville at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for St. Martin, they are taking a road trip to square off against Harrison Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Martin's defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so Harrison Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.
