Basketball Recap: Asheville Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Asheville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were outmatched by the Hendersonville Bearcats and fell 77-35. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 85-44 to the Bearcats when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cam Lattimore and Tae Trantham certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Lattimore posted eight points and six boards, while Trantham put up nine points.

As for Hendersonville, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points over those games.

Hendersonville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mateo Archer, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 16 points. Archer is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Wynn, who shot 63% from the field en route to 15 points and three steals.

Hendersonville has already played their next game, a 72-70 loss against North Henderson on the 25th. Hopefully Asheville paid attention to the Bearcats' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bearcats at 8:15 p.m. on the 3rd.
