Recap: Wartburg Central Bulldogs vs. York Institute Dragons
If The Wartburg Central Bulldogs were feeling good off their 54-0 takedown of the Sunbright Tigers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wartburg Central was beaten by York Institute 40-7 on Friday. Wartburg Central has struggled against York Institute recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Lawson Swint threw for 153 yards and a touchdown. Landon Quinney was his top target, picking up 85 receiving yards.
Among those leading the charge was Myles Leffew, who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 37 yards and a touchdown. Braiden Christianson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Wartburg Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for York Institute, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wartburg Central will stay at home for another week and welcome Tellico Plains at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Tellico Plains has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18th. As for York Institute, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Polk County at 7:00 p.m. Polk County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while York Institute is ranked 73rd).
