Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Find Success

Pleasant Grove came out on top against Tarrant on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Spartans never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Travis Green looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Christian Fikes, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Pleasant Grove: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Timothy Harris, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs.

Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Pleasant Grove now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Tarrant, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Pleasant Grove will challenge Blount at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Leopards have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Tarrant, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dora at 5:00 p.m. on the 31st.
