Recap: DSST: Green Valley Ranch Raptors vs. DSST: Cedar Falcons
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against DSST: Conservatory Green, the DSST: Green Valley Ranch Raptors were happy to have found some success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 61-43 victory over DSST: Cedar. Given DSST: Green Valley Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while DSST: Cedar is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
DSST: Green Valley Ranch was led to victory by Shalom Abioye and Jovonnie Babineaux. Abioye dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Babineaux scored 19 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Leul Michael, who scored six points.
Matthew Stophel and Simon Alexander certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Stophel dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Alexander scored ten points along with two blocks.
DSST: Green Valley Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for DSST: Cedar, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DSST: Green Valley Ranch will take on Manual at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Manual's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for DSST: Cedar, they will be playing at home against Stargate School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Stargate School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday.
