Baseball Recap: Fairfield Victorious

Fairfield let Sycamore stack four runs on them in the first inning on Monday but luckily Fairfield prevailed anyway. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Aviators 7-6. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Alex Brehm tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Justin Hembree, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Nathan Lisk was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Sycamore, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield will welcome Hamilton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Big Blue will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sycamore, they will look to defend their home field on the 20th against Turpin at 5:00 p.m.
