Baseball Recap: Lyndon Takes a Loss

Lyndon extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-13. They lost 11-1 to the Mission Valley Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the first time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-0 defeat on Monday.

As for Mission Valley, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Mission Valley's part, Gunnar Trickel made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Trickel has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mission Valley got a massive performance out of Peyton Christiansen, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Christiansen has posted since back in March. Rykin Kraus was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mission Valley beat Lyndon by a score of 15-0 later that day.
