Softball Recap: Concord Comes Up Short

Concord fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lower Lake on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 5-4. The Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Aislynn Newlin was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Newlin wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ilene Garcia, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lower Lake, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.

While Concord had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
