Football Recap: East Alton-Wood River Takes a Loss

East Alton-Wood River fell victim to Civic Memorial and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Eagles, falling 49-0. The Oilers just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Civic Memorial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Clouser, who threw for 142 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Eagles' leading receiver Parker Parnell was Clouser's top target yet again, picking up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

East Alton-Wood River's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Civic Memorial, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, East Alton-Wood River will venture away from home to square off against Marquette Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Civic Memorial, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Roxana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
