After flying high against Amphitheater last Wednesday, Douglas came back down to earth. The Douglas Bulldogs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rio Rico Hawks on Thursday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October.

Douglas was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Rio Rico work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-14, 25-27, 26-24.

When it comes to explaining why Douglas lost, don't look at Dominique Munoz. Despite the final result, she had 22 digs. Munoz has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 11 times she's played.

Even though they lost, Douglas kept the net locked down and finished the game with 18 blocks. That's the most blocks they've posted since the start of last season.

Douglas' defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Rio Rico, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.
