Volleyball Preview: Mt. Vernon Marauders vs. New Palestine Dragons

The Mt. Vernon Marauders will head out on the road to take on the New Palestine Dragons at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

If Perry Meridian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mt. Vernon, they should've done a better job of containing Aubry Dowling. The Marauders blew past the Falcons 3-0 on Monday for which the team can thank Dowling, who had 20 digs and three assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-16, 25-22.

Meanwhile, New Palestine made easy work of Shelbyville on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: New Palestine took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-12, 25-9.

New Palestine's victory bumped their record up to 25-4. As for Mt. Vernon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-7.

Mt. Vernon beat New Palestine 3-1 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
