Softball Recap: Kettering Takes a Loss

Kettering had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-18 to make it four. They came up short against the Walled Lake Central Vikings, falling 17-6. Captains fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Vikings since on Tuesday.

As for Walled Lake Central, they moved to 13-15 with that win, which also ended their nine-game losing streak. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Walled Lake Central's part, Melanie Bigham was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave Bigham a new career-high. Jessica Fick was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

While Kettering had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
