Recap: Cross Trojans vs. Riverpointe Christian Academy Wolves
On Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Cross had to settle for a 49-47 defeat against Riverpointe Christian Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cross has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Cross saw an underclassman step up: Caden Ramsey scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The contest was Ramsey's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Fuller, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Leading Riverpointe Christian Academy to victory were Terry Truesdale Jr and Kevin Dukes Jr. Truesdale Jr scored 14 points along with eight steals, while Dukes Jr dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Dukes Jr has scored at least 25% of Riverpointe Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Kymani Robinson, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Cross has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Riverpointe Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Cross will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lowcountry Leadership at 8:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Riverpointe Christian Academy and St. John's Christian Academy will round out the year against one another at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at. St. John's Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 237 points over their last four games.
