Softball Game Preview: Sierra Linda Bulldogs vs. Independence Patriots

The Sierra Linda Bulldogs will face off against the Independence Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Sierra Linda blew Washington out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Washington got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Rams by a score of 12-10.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Independence and Glendale had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Patriots skirted past the Cardinals 10-9. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Mariana Perez Vargas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Perez Vargas was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Genevieve De La Cruz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Ortega, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Sierra Linda dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
