Baseball Recap: Ellet Has No Trouble Against Buchtel

Ellet never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past the Buchtel Griffins 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Orangement, who have now won eight matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Logan Wilson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ellet is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nate Freudeman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Ellet's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Evan Dowling was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Ellet always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buchtel only posted an OBP of .125.

The victory made it two in a row for Ellet and bumps their season record up to 8-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Buchtel, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Ellet will venture away from home to take on Firestone at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Orangement will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games. As for Buchtel, they will head out on the road to square off against North at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
