The Cambridge Trojans will face off against the Overton Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cambridge's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maywood/Hayes Center 30-0. The 30-point effort marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Cambridge had a senior duo take command as Brady Ahlemeyer gained 143 total yards and three touchdowns and Micah Gerlach threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. Ahlemeyer got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 62 yards. Cambridge also got a significant boost from Krayton Ruggles, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
Cambridge didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Maywood/Hayes Center to a completion percentage of just 31.6%. The team can thank Hodge Raburn for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cambridge hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.33 or higher in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Cambridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Raburn.
Meanwhile, Overton blew past Bertrand, posting a 35-6 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Cambridge better keep an eye on Eli Luther. He was instrumental in Overton's win, rushing for 57 yards and one score on only six carries, while also throwing for 68 yards and a pair of TDs. Luther's passing game has become a key predictor of the Eagles' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gage Clifton, who rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown.
One reason for the win was Overton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Trace Brooks was the leader with two.
Overton's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Cambridge, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Cambridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 314.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Overton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 203.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Cambridge couldn't quite get it done against Overton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 40-32. Thankfully for the Trojans, Hayden Muirhead (who rushed for 141 yards and three scores on only 15 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
