Softball Recap: Deer Isle-Stonington Finds Home Field Redemption Against Searsport

There's no place like home for Deer Isle-Stonington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past the Searsport Vikings 18-11 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Mariners brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.

Leia Schultz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Schultz was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Naomi Duke was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Emma Weed also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Deer Isle-Stonington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Deer Isle-Stonington's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Searsport, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Deer Isle-Stonington will venture away from home to challenge Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Searsport, they will host Lee Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
