Softball Recap: Desert Edge Comes Up Short

If Desert Edge was riding high fresh off their 20-0 takedown of Copper Canyon last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Desert Edge Scorpions came up short against the Centennial Coyotes on Thursday, falling 14-6. The Scorpions have struggled against the Coyotes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Leila Taylor (2027) was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Natalie Gonzales (2026) was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Desert Edge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Centennial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3-1.

Desert Edge will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on March 17th. As for Centennial, they will take on Lake Havasu at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
