Basketball Recap: Fort Thomas Skates Past St. Michael with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Joseph City, Fort Thomas was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They breezed by the St. Michael Cardinals to the tune of 78-23. The Apaches have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 27 points or more this season.

Leading Fort Thomas to victory were Kaylee Benally and Jamie Johnson. Benally went 7 for 10 en route to 18 points and six boards, while Johnson went 7 of 12 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds. Johnson's afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Corey Cody, who posted 13 points.

Fort Thomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.

Fort Thomas is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for St. Michael, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-13.
