Softball Recap: Northgate Takes a Loss

Northgate dropped their record down to 10-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Benicia Panthers by a score of 10-8. The Broncos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Stella Hanko was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Alfonso, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

As for Benicia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Benicia's side, Kloie Ruiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Alana Robinson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leilani Andrews, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Northgate nor Benicia have any future games scheduled.
