Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Academy Mustangs vs. Kehillah Rams

The Mountain View Academy Mustangs will challenge the Kehillah Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Mountain View Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past East Palo Alto Academy 56-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Mountain View Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Penaflorida, who went 8 of 18 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. Daniel Malo was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kehillah). They really took it to Mid-Peninsula for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-54 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Rams who have now won eight matches in a row.

Mountain View Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Kehillah, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Mountain View Academy was dealt a bruising 76-46 loss at the hands of Kehillah when the teams last played back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mountain View Academy was down 44-18.
