Basketball Recap: Hawthorne Valley Takes a Loss

Hawthorne Valley had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 58-33 to the Chatham Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since December 19, 2024.

Despite the loss, Hawthorne Valley still got an impressive performance from Justin Gamiello, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Remi Owens-Mannion, who earned nine points.

Hawthorne Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-34 victory against Waterford-Halfmoon on the 29th. As for Chatham, they will face off against Berlin/New Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
