Basketball Game Preview: St. Anne's-Belfield Saints vs. Steward Spartans

The St. Anne's-Belfield Saints will take on the Steward Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Anne's-Belfield will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Wednesday, St. Anne's-Belfield earned a 67-55 victory over Trinity Episcopal. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Titans are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Anne's-Belfield found their leader in sophomore Harmony Williams, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keegan Morris, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Steward fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Hampton Roads Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Navigators. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. Anne's-Belfield pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Steward, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Everything came up roses for St. Anne's-Belfield against Steward in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 67-36 victory. Will St. Anne's-Belfield repeat their success, or does Steward have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
