Softball Recap: Northeast Academy Eagles vs. Ridgecroft Rams
Northeast Academy had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it nine. They lost 11-2 to the Ridgecroft Rams. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
As for Ridgecroft, their record now sits at 9-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
For Ridgecroft's part, Klaire Cherry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Cherry has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Joyner and Olivia Revelle did most of the damage at the plate: Joyner went a perfect 5-for-5 with one run and one double, while Revelle went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Revelle has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Slaughter, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Northeast Academy has already played their next contest, a 16-1 victory against Columbia on the 16th. As for Ridgecroft, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-0 defeat against Lawrence Academy on the 16th.
