Basketball Game Preview: Emerald Vikings vs. Clinton Red Devils

The Emerald Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Clinton Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Emerald is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Greenwood on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Emerald came up short against Greenwood, falling 67-46. The Vikings were down 55-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Clinton suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a blow against Union County, falling 71-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Devils have suffered against the Yellowjackets since January 28, 2020.

Emerald has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Clinton, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.

Emerald came up short against Clinton in their previous meeting last Tuesday, falling 56-46. Can Emerald avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
