Softball Game Preview: Newton South Lions vs. Boston Latin Wolfpack

The Newton South Lions will face off against the Boston Latin Wolfpack at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Newton South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Newton South made easy work of Cambridge Rindge & Latin and carried off a 23-9 win. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Zoe Spector was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Coull, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

Newton South lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Meanwhile, Boston Latin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 7-1 to Archbishop Williams.

Christina George made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Newton South's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Boston Latin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Boston Latin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Newton South has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Boston Latin, though, as they've only averaged .305. Will they be able to contain Newton South's hitters?
