Volleyball Recap: Valley Center Hornets vs. Great Bend Panthers

Valley Center and Great Bend squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Valley Center had to settle for second. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Great Bend Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.

Valley Center was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23.

Taylor Mcdonald paced Valley Center's offense, picking up 13 kills. Mcdonald got some help from Chalyn Boone and her nine assists. Mcdonald was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Valley Center wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Hays on the 26th. As for Great Bend, they will face off against Kapaun Mt. Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Great Bend is looking to tack on another W to their 15-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
