Football Recap: Three Straight Home Wins for Newberry

Newberry won against Chapin last Friday with 45 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Fairfield Central Griffins by a score of 45-34. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 49-42 loss the last time these two teams met.

Fairfield Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Diggs, who rushed for 93 yards, and also threw for 85 yards and one TD. The Griffins also got help from Ty'Quarius Shannon, who showed off his sure hands for 112 receiving yards.

Newberry pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Fairfield Central, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Coming up, Newberry will head out on the road to face off against Saluda at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Fairfield Central, they will be playing at home against Andrew Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
