League recap: Garland Christian Academy tops Dallas Lutheran to extend winning streak

TAPPS Division III District 3 recap Oct. 30, 2012

Garland Christian Academy extended the longest winning streak in TAPPS Division III District 3 this week by beating Dallas Lutheran, 47-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Garland Christian Academy took down the Lions 47-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Braxton Berry threw for 246 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 89 yards in the win.

The Swordsmen's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Parker Powell helped Garland Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching three balls for 75 yards.

Cody King was the best wideout in the league this week as Garland Christian Academy topped Dallas Lutheran. King tallied four receptions for 101 yards.

First Baptist's Max Partlo and Trae Hart have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Partlo has thrown for 2498 yards this season, while Hart, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 72 catches for 1327 yards. Daniel Rorie from Rockwall Christian leads the league in rushing with 624 yards.

A big matchup in TAPPS Division III District 3 this week will be when the Saints take on the Swordsmen. At the moment, First Baptist is in first, while Garland Christian Academy is in third.

Highlands and the Warriors played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Highlands eventually emerging with a 38-36 victory.
