Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Has No Trouble Against Portage Northern

St. Joseph hadn't done well against Portage Northern recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Huskies. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

St. Joseph got a great performance from Ryan Buist as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Nathan Schmitt was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jacob Gonzales also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Joseph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portage Northern only posted an OBP of .348.
