Softball Game Preview: West Salem Titans vs. Mountain View Cougars

The West Salem Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the Mountain View Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

West Salem is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: West Linn, who was ranked third at the time (West Salem was ranked 22nd). The Titans took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Wednesday. The Titans have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

While Mountain View didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Madras on Monday as they made off with a 21-6 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the White Buffaloes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Cadence Kennedy, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 5-for-5. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keilah McCarthy, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mountain View's record now sits at 5-2. As for West Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

West Salem took their win against Mountain View when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
