Basketball Recap: Arapahoe Piles Up the Points Against Northern Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arapahoe). They claimed a resounding 68-21 victory over the Northern Valley Huskies. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season.

Leading Arapahoe to victory were Clara Hilker and Suttyn Shafer. Hilker dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Shafer went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points and five steals. That's the most points Hilker has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Tidyman, who posted four points and four steals.

Arapahoe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Northern Valley had strong showings from Iris Schemper, who put up five points and five rebounds, and Haedyn Cox, who had two points and five rebounds. Cox is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Arapahoe's record is now 5-1. As for Northern Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arapahoe will take on Wilcox-Hildreth in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arapahoe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Northern Valley, they and Weskan will meet in a canine-themed contest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
