Recap: Cholla Chargers vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions
After a string of five wins, the Cholla Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to Mountain View 79-75. Cholla was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mountain View apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Cholla's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerry Mendoza, who scored 18 points along with five assists and two steals. Mendoza has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Payne, who scored 20 points.
It was another big night for Rowan Lemons, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 20 rebounds for Mountain View. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lemons has scored all season. Joaquin Meek was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Cholla's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Mountain View, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Catalina Foothills the next time they take the court. Cholla will host Catalina Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Mountain View will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
